It's pretty remarkable just how young this wine seems. Nonetheless, time has been kind to it, marrying the oak to the fruit and mellowing out the flavors. Ripe notes of sweet plums, black cherries, blueberries, pomegranate, and slow-roasted meats. Bold and full bodied on the palate with low acidity. Finishes with hints of cocoa and licorice. Definitely not for the timid, but still quite delicious, falling just short of outstanding due to signs of surmaturité. (89 pts.)
