Clos Pepe's New Website!

Postby Phil_Carpenter » Fri Apr 12, 2013 11:16 am

While perusing my Facebook page this morning, discovered Wes Hagen announced a new website for Clos Pepe. Instantly hit the link, poked, prodded, hit all the pages, played all the videos I could find. This is a seriously slick, beautiful, and intuitive site.

Wes recently hired Jeremy and Michelle Ball of Bottle Branding (http://bottlebranding.com/) as his marketing team. In my opinion, you can't do better. Jeremy is EXTREMELY talented in all things photo, video, and cinematography. Michelle is an amazing writer and knows her stuff! Combined with their knowledge and skill, and Wes' vision...they got one cool site.

Why am I posting about a website...after all, it IS just a website. Well, this site holds a very special place in my heart. Wes was one of the first people I met on our maiden voyage to Santa Barbara...and the first person I met in the Santa Rita Hills. The experience we had is one of the moments that gave me the passion for the area. Walking rows with Wes, and only one other couple in a very intimate and educational setting, is where my passion was fledged. It's pretty easy to gain the passion when around Wes.

Before this...all I looked at were cab clusters...my first look at pinot with the master.

To get to the site...after visiting Wes, I would visit this site constantly. I would read all the content Wes posted. Not only was there info on the vineyard, current and past vintages, but how the conditions effect the vineyard and fruit, and of the varietals Wes grew. There was just so much content on the old site. Albeit, a little clunky and in an old school web theme. But I loved it. I would always look forward to hearing the video on the front page initiate. The music, and seeing Wes' Border Collie licking his chops while looking at a cluster of pinot. Wes has taught me so much about vineyards, wine, and the Santa Rita Hills...in person, and via his website.

I'll miss the old content that was on the original site, but there is just as much info on the new site, and in a more efficient and user friendly web theme. Big congrats to Wes, Jeremy, Michelle, and the whole Clos Pepe family and crew.
