TNs: 2010 Nagy Wines Santa Barbara County Syrah

I've been a fan of Clarissa for a while. Met her at STARS of Santa Barbara right after she took over as winemaker of Riverbench.

I always wanted to try her personal label. Went to Bin 2860 in Los Olivos and found this gem on the racks. Had to pull the cork.

2010 Nagy Wines Santa Barbara County Syrah

Label says White Hawk Vineyard. One of my favorite sites. Initial pop was grilled beef and pork. After an hour, still got grilled meats, some savory herbs, and some pepper. Attack has a beautiful blue fruit purity. Consistent with nose with a long finish. Some nice gravel as well. Hint of chocolate as I rebreathe through nose. Man, got so many layers here. Great balance.

Find this label! Clarissa is doing some amazing things. Hopefully will get her highly recommended Pinot Blanc (Bien Nacido fruit btw...) next. Learn more here: www.nagywines.com

Phil,

Thanks for the tip. Tasted the Riverbench wines, but didn't realize Clarissa was making her own as well. Will keep an eye out for the Syrah. Can't go wrong with White Hawk!

Cheers,

Steve
