TN 2011 Sanguis Mule

From cellar tracker notes (and a bit irreverent for sure):
Do not do what I foolish did - that is open this stubborn girl! Be the zombie apocalyptic you know you can be and hold this in the cellar for 2-4 more years. Or get better glasses like I should have so you could see the vintage like I should have! PnP - so very tight. Reductive, brooding petrol like fragrance giving way to the barnyard. Blows off after an hour but the juice won't reveal. Holding on deep with tightly clenched fists. The fruit is under there, the finish is muted. Hold, Hold, Hold.....and record the season of Doomsday Preppers to drink with. 34% Petite Sirah 33% Cabernet Sauvignon 33% Syrah. To add - disjointed now and in need of serious cellar time to relax.

Patience, patience... the Sanguis reds can take years to come around, but when they do, they can really shine. The youngest I've had so far was the 07 Backseat Betty last year, and that was still too young. Have had two of the 04 Last Dance (one with Phil) and the 04 Wedding Syrahs over the past year and they were drinking extremely well. Although I did not start buying from the list until the 08's were released, I found the 04's and two 05's at reasonable prices at auction. Not sure I would have been able to hold them that long if I had purchased from the winery on release, but now that I have had that experience of tasting the 04's with 8-10 years of bottle age I know to stash the young rhone reds and PS/Cab blends as far back in the locker as I can get them.

Cheers!
