A central coast classic and a Sonoma Cab snuck in

Postby Don Nuzzo » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:12 pm

On Thursday we opened a 1999 Justin Isocoles... yes, that is a Pre-Fuji Justin.
Very youthful with lots going on... another reason to wonder how this Brodeaux varietal wonder got so good amongst all those Rhonies..
Dark and red fruits nuances, beautiful aromatics and a wonderful mouthcoating finish.
Yea I know it's not SB County, so sue me 8-)
We also opened a 2003 Audelssa Reserve. Wow. Totally different (just a cab... maybe that's the reason? Duh!) Much darker in color and profile. This is in a great place. Still youthful but has shed just a tad of baby fat. Mmmm. i liked it better than the Justin but loved both. Both enjoyed over a beautiful dinner at the Farmhouse Café. Nothing we did had anything to do with SB County... the wine, the food, the participants... We may have mentioned Santa Ynez... No, we didn't.
Oh well.

Don,

Thanks for the post. Phil's lawyers (yes, plural) will be contacting you in the AM. Just so you don't feel alone when you are exiled to Redemption Island for drinking non SB wine, I'll admit that I had an '06 Audelssa Reserve Cab recently and enjoyed it immensely. Hope to try the '03 one of these days!

Cheers,

Steve

Steve, maybe we should have a Sonoma Wine Dinner some time... I have more Audelssa Reserves...

Phil, change the name of this site to California Wine Talk... that would blow things wide open and maybe increase traffic?
